Drug agents recently announced that five young La Pine residents – three men and two women - were arrested last week following an investigation which led to the discovery of over 14 grams of methamphetamine and a raid at a local motel.  Three children found in the motel room during the raid were placed in protective custody. Shallow aquifers supplying drinking water to rural residents of southern Deschutes and northern Klamath Counties near La Pine, Oregon, are vulnerable to contamination by wastewater from on-site, residential wastewater disposal (septic) systems, according to the findings of a study by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Instead, fill it up.  Central Oregon's Boy Scouts are collecting the fixings for meals for hundreds of needy area families during their annual "Scouting for Food" event. Two La Pine drivers were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries following a head-on collision between a pickup and a minivan Saturday night, deputies reported. Shortly after 9:30 p.m. October 27, Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on Burgess Road at the intersection of Huntington Road in La Pine, Sgt.
