Two injured in La Pine head-on collision
by Cheryl McDermott

Two La Pine drivers were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries following a head-on collision between a pickup and a minivan Saturday night, deputies reported.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. October 27, Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash on Burgess Road at the intersection of Huntington Road in La Pine, Sgt. Dan Deluca and Deputy Flory wrote in a news release.

Preliminary investigation determined that Geraldine Pearl Cox, 61, was stopped in the left turn lane of Burgess Road, facing east and waiting to turn north onto Huntington Road, when her 2000 Nissan Quest minivan was struck head-on.

The deputies said that a 1990 Ford F250 pickup driven by Robin Lloyd Ott, 56, was traveling west on Burgess Road when it crossed the centerline and hit the minivan.

The impact pushed Cox’s minivan to the west shoulder of the road, and Ott’s pickup overturned and landed upside-down in the intersection, Deluca and Flory said.

The incident remains under investigation.
